Nova
A poem by Micah Boswell · nova · family · music
I worried about Nova for a long time. I moved out in 2010. I didn’t want to be absent, like my father. But I worried about my behavior. Was I positive enough when we spent weekends together. Did I let him tell me about him enough. Did I make space for him enough. I look now, and smile. He shows me his music. He asks me to watch his favorite shows. He has taken on his own passions. Without me getting in the way. Last week, he asked to play a new favorite song. It was my favorite song too, years ago. I smiled, and a small drop of joy Escaped from its duct. We talked music, like two old friends.
