Situation
A well-known product investor hired me to finalize the concept of a virtual card designed for managing recurring subscriptions using temporary credit cards. This project aimed to simplify managing multiple cards, each designated for separate payment increments, a challenge compounded by the need for intuitive design and clear taxonomy.
Task
My role was to design a user-friendly interface that allowed users to easily manage these virtual cards. This involved overcoming visual and organizational challenges to create a system that was both intuitive and effective for managing subscriptions.
Action
I employed a combination of low, mid, and high fidelity wireframes within Axure, alongside User Flows in Figma and Sketch, to develop intuitive task funnels that reflected the needs and thoughts of our key audience segments. This approach enabled us to quickly prototype and test different mental models across our user personas, allowing for rapid validation of concepts through interactive prototyping. By focusing on user flows, we ensured the application offered a natural and coherent pathway for users, seamlessly integrating various tasks.
Result
The implementation of this strategy led to a 20% improvement in the completion rate of setup and key tasks by users within our key stakeholder groups. Qualitative feedback from users highlighted a significant increase in the ease of use, with many describing the onboarding and setup process as "fun and enjoyable." This project demonstrated the team's ability to introduce new concepts in a user-friendly manner, eliminating the need for extensive 'learning sessions' and significantly enhancing the user experience.
